Burlwood started playing together in September of 2016. They have all been friends since High School in the Annapolis area. Russel, the lead guitarist of Burlwood, was formally in the band Changre and TJ, Burlwood's bassist, was the bassist in Vista Saints for five years. After Burlwood's drummer, Andrew, finished college and Ryan, the lead vocalist, moved back to the Annapolis area, the four old friends began to jam together. They started to realize their shared love for southern rock and inspirations such as the Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker Band, the Grateful Dead etc. Since then they have delved into the styles of newer artists such as Marcus King Band, the Hardworking Americans, and Tyler Childers. Playing primarily covers and a handful of newer originals, Burlwood hopes to bring an old school vibe to any crowd. As a wise man once said "there ain't no party like a Burlwood party cuz a Burlwood party don't stop". Since beginning to play professionally, they have frequented popular bars and music venues in the Annapolis and Baltimore areas, bringing the Burlwood party wherever they go.
